Renamed under the same family id: Bird of Prey (Era's Owl). 9 abilities not in Era's pet lists by name: Dismember, Dust Cloud, Mine!, Pinch, Savage Rend, Swipe, Tendon Rip, Trickster's Dance and Web. Renamed on the same spells: Demoralizing Screech (Era's Screech). Era had Cobra Reflexes and Forever's lists do not. Family and ability names, descriptions and icons belong to Blizzard Entertainment.
Pick a family to see what it eats, its family bonus and every ability it can learn, rank by rank, with the level, the Focus cost and the cooldown the client gives each one. The Abilities view turns that around: one ability, every rank, and every family that learns it. The diet view is the whole grid at a glance. Each ability links to its page on Wowhead, and each family to Wowhead's page for it, where the tameable beasts are listed; for a family Wowhead has no page for yet, that link lands on its hunter pet list.
Reading the page
An ability marked shared is on the client's shared pet list, such as Growl and the resistances, and the page names which families' lines include that list. An ability marked unique belongs to one family only. The numbers in a rank's wording are the client's own for a level 60 pet, capped at the highest level that rank scales to. A tag that says "was Owl" or "was Screech" means the same family or spell carried that name in Classic Era.
What Blizzard has said about pets in the beta
Blizzard's beta development notes of 24 September 2026 name pet changes. Tame Beast no longer works on beasts above the hunter's level. Furious Howl's attack power bonus came down. A fault that stopped pet happiness falling at full loyalty was fixed. The build this page reads may sit on either side of those changes; the notes are the publisher's word and the tables are the client's.
What this page will not do
It will not rank the families or tell you which pet to tame. It shows what the beta client offers, checked against that client rather than against guides. If something here reads differently from what you see in the game, the client has probably moved past the build named under the tables. Tell us at [email protected] and we will re-read the data.

Common questions
How many hunter pet families are there in World of Warcraft: Forever?
The beta client, build 1.60.1.70009, lists 19 pet families, each with its own diet, its own family bonus and its own abilities. New since Classic Era by name: Fox. Renamed under the same family id: Bird of Prey (Era's Owl). Whether every family can be tamed in the beta is not something the tables say.
What do hunter pets eat in World of Warcraft: Forever?
It depends on the family. The client marks each family with the food types it accepts, from eight kinds: meat, fish, cheese, bread, fungus, fruit, raw meat and raw fish. Some families eat one kind and some eat most of them, and the diet view on this page shows the whole grid.
How does a hunter pet learn abilities in Forever?
Through Beast Training, as in the original game. The beta client still carries the Beast Training skill, whose own text says it lets you train your pet with abilities you have learned how to teach, and its interface text says you gain training points by raising your pet's loyalty and level. What each rank costs in points is set by the game's servers, not by the tables this page reads, so it is not shown.
Which pet abilities are new in Forever?
By name, 9 abilities on the beta client's pet lists are not in Classic Era's: Dismember, Dust Cloud, Mine!, Pinch, Savage Rend, Swipe, Tendon Rip, Trickster's Dance and Web. Renamed on the same spells: Demoralizing Screech (Era's Screech). Each is tagged on the page. Era had Cobra Reflexes and Forever's lists do not.
What are the family bonuses?
Each family's own passive in the client changes its damage, armour and health by a percentage. The page shows the three numbers on every family, read from that passive, so a family that hits harder, takes hits better or has more health is a matter of record rather than reputation.
What do the levels and the numbers next to each rank mean?
The level is the one the client attaches to that rank. The numbers in the wording are for a level 60 pet, or the highest level the rank scales to, which is the same reading Wowhead gives. Where a rank shows no level, the client's spell tables carry none for it, and we do not guess.
Where does this data come from?
From the World of Warcraft: Forever beta client itself, through the wago.tools mirror of its database tables. The page says which build it was read from and on which date, and the data is re-read at least every 14 days because beta numbers change between builds.
